    1.         A prescription for a controlled substance shall only be dispensed by a pharmacist, acting in the usual course of his professional practice, and either registered individually or employed in a registered pharmacy; however, nothing in this Section shall prohibit a physician, dentist, or veterinarian from personally dispensing such prescriptions to his own patients, in conformance with the laws and rules promulgated by the DEA and his own professional licensing agency. see full law
