    (k) Opioid Treatment Program (OTP). (Sometimes referred to as a “methadone clinic” or “narcotic treatment program”). An OTP is any treatment program certified by SAMHSA in conformance with 42 CFR, Part 8, Certification of Opioid Treatment Programs (42 CFR §§8.1 through 8.34), to provide supervised assessment and medication-assisted treatment of patients who are addicted to opioids. An OTP can exist in a number of settings, including intensive outpatient, residential, and hospital facilities.
